HI, I'M SHAYLA

I’m Shayla Brown, a destination wedding + elopement photographer based in Cincinnati, Ohio. When I think about it, I’ve always had a camera in my hand somehow. On Christmas Day in 2000, I was 4 years old when my parents gifted me a Barbie Polaroid camera - I remember taking so many photos and hanging them all over my bedroom. There is something so special about freezing life’s most special moments.

My photography style is all about authentic, raw and emotional storytelling in a joyful and romantic way. My favorite parts of a wedding day are when the bride steps into her dress (that’s when it all starts to feel real) and the moment right after the ceremony when you realize “Omg, we’re married!!”

My life motto has always been to enjoy the little things. Morning rain, the first sip of coffee, the smell of fresh laundry. I’m a homebody at heart, but always up for an adventure! I’m passionate about non toxic living, obsessed with my dog (her name is Maple!) and love living a simple life with my husband. We currently live in an A-frame in the woods, and it’s the life I’ve always dreamed of.

MY WHY

CAPTURING human CONNECTION

Every photographer has their own reasoning for working in this industry. My reasoning is that I simply love documenting love; it’s the strongest force in the world and brings so many beautiful people together, forever. I believe that your wedding day is one of the most precious days you’ll experience! When you grow old and think back, you’ll never forget how you felt on that day. When I think back to my own wedding day, I remember the laughs, the nerves, the giddiness. Flipping through my wedding photos evokes those emotions all over again! They are moments frozen in time that I get to reflect on, but also share with my future children one day. And that, to me, is priceless.

When choosing a photographer, you want to make sure you mesh well with them. They are a huge part of your wedding process, and can set the tone for how your day flows, as well as being a shoulder to lean on. I believe your wedding day is so much more than a giant photoshoot - it is a fleeting 12 hours that deserves your full attention. I’ll take care of preserving the moments, while you focus on living your day to the fullest!

Most of the couples I work with end up becoming friends. I truly hold a special place in my heart for every single wedding I get to capture.
